The Best Toronto Valentine’s Day Dates

Planning on being in the big city this Valentine’s Day? Maybe it’s a day trip or maybe it’s home, either way, there are plenty of things you can do with your guy in this wonderful city. Here’s our top picks…

Go ice-skating

One of the few benefits of having Valentine’s Day fall smack in the middle of the coldest part of the year is that it means that you can turn those chills into fun activities with great excuses to cuddle. Grab your guy and a couple steamy hot chocolates and head down to Nathan Phillips Square, right in the heart of the city, for a few hours of fun and frolicking on the ice.

Make something sweet to share

Sure taking a cooking class with your guy would be totally uber romantic way to spend the day, but why not add a little extra sweetness to your Valentine’s Day and try cupcake decorating or truffle making classes instead? Le Dolci in the West end is offering a whole series of couples classes the week of V-Day, including one cupcake decorating class form 7-9 on the day itself.

Go wine tasting

Every one loves the romance of being whisked off to a vineyard for a romantic weekend of wine-tasting and love-making but let’s be serious, not all of us can actually afford to be “whisked away” this Valentine’s Day. Stick close to home and enjoy one of the multitudes of wine tasting classes being offered around the city for under $50! Midfield Wine Bar and iYellow Wine School both have classes on offer Valentine’s week! Visit their websites for more details.

Make your own pottery

Just think of it like that sexy scene from Ghost except that you’re not a professional potter and, well, you’re man is alive…But it can still be totally romantic (trust us!) and a fantastic way to bond while get a little “dirty” with your dude. Check out the Gardiner Museum, they offer drop-in clay classes every Friday (same day as Valentine’s Day!) from 6-8pm.

Go lingerie shopping

There is nothing that will turn your guy from a Valentine’s Day hater to a complete lover quite like surprising him with this type of date. Hit up the Victoria’s Secret closest to you (there are locations at Eaton Centre, Yorkdale, Sherway and Scarborough Town Centre) and invite him to “bare” witness to a sexy little fashion show. End off the date by selecting one of your getups and then tell him he’s not allowed to find out which one it is until you get home. You’ll be amazed how fast he’ll run after that…
