We put these handy fold-up flats to the test

Fashion-loving women of the world, I think we can all agree that after spending a day in our beloved heels, we’re almost ready to boycott them entirely.

Designed after creator Hailey Coleman found herself barefoot and shoe-holding on the cobblestone streets of London late one evening, she swore an alternative was badly needed. “We adore our heels, and we’ll certainly never stop wearing them,” explains Coleman. “But they should never stop a woman from dancing ‘til dawn.”

Enter the essential stiletto alternative, Damn Heels. These portable, fold-up ballet flats can be stashed in your purse, at the ready for any high heel mishaps or discomfort. They promise to give aching feet a reprieve by offering not only a comfy replacement, but an adorable printed fold-up reusable bag (pictured above) that the offending footwear can be easily slipped into. Brilliant!

So do they work?

While you’ll be shocked at the compactness of the product (personally, I thought there’d been a mistake), you’ll be delighted that upon opening it, you’re treated to versatile style and the ultimate in portability. Made of high quality polyurethane material with a soft lining, the 2 mm-thick sole is both bendable and treaded – so even after nightclubbing in the rain, you won’t have to endure an embarrassing slip in addition to painful feet. Here's an image of the flats (unfolded).

Sizes and Price

Running at $20 and available in three sizes (small (5-6), medium (7-8) and large (9-10), the flats are designed to conform to your feet – but beware: they do fit a touch small, so it may be safer to go up a size. You might also want to break them in slightly before relying on them to deliver you home (they have been folded up for quite some time).
