So we all know that when we go shopping for clothes that the fit is key, but why don't we factor this in while shopping for men? Ladies, let's not waste time wondering if he's the one.
1) NEVER SETTLE
God only knows how many women I see doing this on a regular basis (even I am guilty of this one) there are many reasons as to of why we do this, it could be that you may have low self-esteem, that your heart is broken from a past relationship or you just feel like "Hey, why shouldn't I give him a chance?" DON'T think this, If you have ever heard the term "there's plenty of fish in the sea" It's true and settling will lead you down a long winding road of unhappiness.
2) Accept yourself for who YOU are.
Until you can see yourself in open light, you are hiding others from your true capability of being in a long-lasting relationship. Meaning instead of looking in the mirror and tearing yourself down say something nice about yourself. (Do you have a nice smile, style, natural beauty)? When you focus on the positive it makes it a lot easier to forget about those little pesky things that get you down about yourself.
3) Once you've accepted yourself, dig a little deeper.
Find out what it is you want in the short-term/long-term of your relationship, don't be afraid to daydream about what you want just make sure anything long-term doesn't come up in the date or you will risk the possibility of scaring Mr. Right right out the door!
4) Make a list of the qualities you expect.
Make sure this list is realistic (we don't want you to settle, but I'm pretty sure you won't be landing George Clooney anytime soon). Start simple, making a list of ones qualities goes a long way. Someone funny, charming, generous.. these things are qualities that a lot of people have. Finding someone with these and being ridiculously handsome is where it gets tough, so start small again (nice smile, style etc.) The important things that will stick out to you.
5) Never leave the nice guy behind.
Many women often think back about a guy from their past, someone who treated them like a queen but they let go of. There's a quote I really love that says “sometimes you can't see what's right in front of you but when you open your eyes you'll wonder why you didn't see it sooner” If you have a best friend who is a male chances are if he likes you too it will be the best relationship you've ever had. You should never leave the nice guy behind (even though we tend to go for the bad boys) These are the ones with TRUE potential.
6) Going for what you want.
Dating isn't as easy as it looks, i've broke it down into three categories - Conversation, Style, and Body Language. So in order to have a good date you must be willing to put in some work. Go for someone with similarities to you whether it be music, movies, hobbies (opposites attract usually tends to just be the attraction and these relationships tend to fade quickly since you have no interest in what the other person likes to do!) Style, is a MUST on the first date. Dress to impress but don't overdress. Keep it simple and natural as anything overdone can be a turn-off to guys. Lastly, Body language there's simple things that we can pick up on (full attention to him while he's talking to you, a smile, a nudge little flirty things but make sure not to be too sexual or he might think you just want a one night stand.
7) Get deeper into conversation.
While on a date conversation is KEY, now is your time to really get to know him and see if you will “click” ask everything and anything without getting too personal. Leave conversation light & let it flow. If it feels like there has been a silence for a long while this isn't the one for you excuse yourself to the washroom and RUN! There is a difference between being shy and an awkward silence.
8) Like a guy but he just won't ask you out? ASK HIM!
Ladies, we don't like to admit it but it's the 21st century and men just aren't like what they use to be. They want women to chase them, and there is nothing sexier to a man than a confident woman. If you are shy there are a few tips to get him without even saying a word! This all goes back to body language, grab his attention by looking over at him and if you lock eyes for him send a smile his way, if he smiles back wave him over. The first step is already done and it is more than likely than he will strike up the conversation you've been waiting for since you started a little flirtation. If you can't get him away from his buddies (or his beer) for a second by doing this. Go up and stand next to him, mention something he may be into (if there's a game on, perfect! He's probably wearing his fave teams jersey) Mention how much you love the team and you're in!
9) Second dates and future dating.
This is where you make it or break it, now that all the fun and flirting is done and you both know your into one another you have to have a plan to keep it exciting. Don't get stuck in a rut, check out different places and cultures. Share the dates equally so you both get a chance to impress one another, keep conversation open to more serious topics about where you want to go with your life (but don't push it if your not there yet) most of all enjoy each others company.
10) The best piece of advice I can give you, is to date and date a lot!
Believe that there is always more than one person out there for every single person and it takes experience to truly see what your missing. Have fun, enjoy life, take pride in yourself because there is an opportunity waiting around every corner.
