Who’s Coming to TIFF?

We're a little more than a month away from TIFF, and if even if you aren't into the film festival circuit (oh come on — guys, we all know we turn into celebrity-watching freaks for 10 days every year), you have reason to get psyched: as per usual, the A-listers are a-coming.

So far, the hot tickets look to be Benedict Cumberbatch's "The Imitation Game" (an Alan Turing biopic, whose trailer might as well just say, "Oscar please can I have an Oscar?"), "Nightcrawler" starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Tom Hardy's "The Drop," and Reese Witherspoon in "Wild" (which looks amazing let's talk about that, please) and "The Good Life" because why wouldn't she have made more than one?

"Toronto can anticipate another remarkable lineup of films," Piers Handling, CEO and Director of TIFF said yesterday. "Cinema's collective and transformative experience lives at the heart of our Festival — a sentiment that inspires the global dialogue rippling throughout the selections revealed today."

"We can't wait to present the new films from some of cinema's brightest talents," added Cameron Bailey, TIFF's Artistic Director. "This year we'll welcome filmmakers from France, Germany, China, the UK, the US, and more to red carpets in Toronto."

So what's scheduled to play so far? Here's what we've got, gala-style:

"Black and White," starring Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer
"The Equalizer," starring Denzel Washington
"Foxcatcher Bennett Miller," starring Anthony Michael Hall, Steve Carrell, and Channing Tatum
"Haemoo Shim Sung-bo," starring Kim Yoon-seok and Park-Yoo-chun
"The Judge David Dobkin," starring Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, and Vera Farmiga
"A Little Chaos," starring Kate Winslet and Alan Rickman (which is the closing night film)

And apparently, we're still waiting to find out what will open the festival. (Though whatever it is, it has to be better than last year's Fifth Estate — it has to be.)

TIFF runs from September 4 to September 14, 2014 so book that vacation time now.
