Face Off: Hair Removal Creams, Bliss vs. Nair

No-pants season is finally within sight! After a long, cold winter, you’re probably itching to get those legs out in the sun, but first you have to de-fuzz after keeping that extra layer on for warmth. We tested out two hair removal creams to see which one will keep us hair-free for longer.

The Contenders: Bliss Fuzz’ Off Bikini Precision Hair Removal Cream ($36, Sephora.com) and Nair Argan Oil Shower Power Max ($18, available at mass drugstores nationwide)

The Control: Used one product on each leg to see which started growing back faster. (FYI: We know that Bliss is for the bikini area, but if it is good enough to remove stubborn hair in a super-sensitive area, then it’s good enough for our legs.)

Observations:

Bliss

Pros:

  • Formulated for the bikini area, so great on sensitive skin and pesky hairs
  • Infused with vitamin E and cocoa and shea butters to keep skin hydrated

Cons:

  • Higher price point
  • Hair started growing back within a week

Nair

Pros:

  • It can be used in the shower! Hello, extra five minutes of sleep!
  • Formulated with hydrating argan oil”great for those who are still feeling winter’s dry-skin wrath
  • Lower price point

Cons:

  • Hair started growing back within a week

The Verdict: It’s not often that we have to call a tie. Sometimes both products are just equally good in their own way. If you’re looking for an alternative to your razor or waxing (ouch) and go the hair removal cream route, both of these are great options. For those willing to spend the extra cash, Bliss is great, both for the specified bikini area and for your legs (though less cost-effective for your legs), but if you’re on a budget (hey, we are too), then Nair is an absolute go-to. Both of these products are proof that hair removal creams have come a long way.
